{"id":2592,"date":"2016-06-06T13:38:21","date_gmt":"2016-06-06T13:38:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asi2.wpenginepowered.com\/uncategorized\/asis-sgr-magazine-gets-bold-and-beautiful\/"},"modified":"2025-06-25T15:33:41","modified_gmt":"2025-06-25T19:33:41","slug":"asis-sgr-magazine-gets-bold-and-beautiful","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asicentral.com\/press-releases\/asis-sgr-magazine-gets-bold-and-beautiful\/","title":{"rendered":"ASI&#8217;s SGR Magazine Gets Bold and Beautiful"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Industry&#8217;s most sophisticated supplier platform sets pace for the future with major redesign<\/p>\n<p><strong>TREVOSE, PA \u2013 April 26, 2013 \u2013 <\/strong><em>SGR<\/em>\u2122 magazine sets a bold new pace for the future with the May debut of its most extensive redesign ever, showcased in a fiercely frank cover story on game-changing industry mavericks.<\/p>\n<p><em>SGR<\/em>, published every two months by the Advertising Specialty Institute<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> (ASI), launched the print redesign after thorough research of consumer demand and in-depth outreach to supplier members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKnowing globe-trotting suppliers want business essentials delivered as fast and efficiently as possible, <em>SGR<\/em> now boasts a tighter editorial focus and renewed emphasis on the international coverage, competitive intelligence, hot trends and innovative sales strategies readers crave,\u201d said ASI Publisher Rich Fairfield.<\/p>\n<p>Along with its redesign, <em>SGR<\/em> unveiled the new \u201cLast Laugh\u201d on its back page, featuring a business-related cartoon and funniest caption contest.<\/p>\n<p>Michele Bell, <em>SGR<\/em> editor since the magazine\u2019s launch in 2005, complemented her May cover story on five wildly unconventional ad specialty industry CEOs with a striking cover design as bold as their business outlook (hint: when asked what it takes to be a good boss, one CEO told Bell, \u201cJust don\u2019t be a dick\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat sets these execs apart from the pack is that they\u2019re larger than life and have <em>chutzpah<\/em> in spades,\u201d said Bell. \u201cAt the same time, they\u2019re hugely successful \u2013 and weirdly inspiring. With every issue, I want the new <em>SGR<\/em> to be as smart and original, and as challenging and compelling, as they are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2011, Bell was honored with a Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Award from American Business Media, considered the Pulitzer Prize of business journalism, for her story, \u201cAsia\u2019s Seismic Shift,\u201d detailing how labor unrest and other issues in China would affect suppliers in the promotional products industry.<\/p>\n<p>The magazine\u2019s most familiar sections, departments, columns and features remain, and <em>SGR <\/em>will continue to cover all major international shows and to showcase the hottest products. In addition to the print edition, the <em>SGR<\/em> brand offers readers a biweekly <em>SGR<\/em> e-newsletter, a companion website, SGRmag.com (a password-protected site available only to ASI supplier members), <em>SGR<\/em> virtual trade shows exclusively for supplier attendees and <em>SGR<\/em> member exhibitors, an iPad app and an online version of the magazine.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, <em>SGR<\/em> also began offering a new, supplier-exclusive membership to connect non-North American manufacturers and agents with ASI\u2019s North American suppliers. In the fall, <em>SGR <\/em>will introduce a sourcing tool to ASI supplier members for no additional charge that will allow suppliers to rate <em>SGR<\/em> members based on selected criteria such as overall quality, delivery and problem resolution while highlighting products, images and pricing.<\/p>\n<p>ASI publishes seven catalogs, five magazines and seven newsletters. ASI\u2019s magazine circulation is audited and growing, and <em>Counselor<\/em><sup class=\"register\">\u00ae<\/sup>&#8216;s top lists are now the industry standard.
