Powell, USA (Ret.), the former Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of State.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"style15\">A standing-room-only crowd of more than 900 distributors, suppliers and decorators cheered as Powell, appearing this morning as keynote speaker, told stories of overcoming challenges to lead organizations of all sizes \u2013 from a few dozen people to millions \u2013 through stressful times that required change, development of new solutions to problems and seeing beyond today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style15\">Powell cautioned the audience to avoid looking back in rearview mirrors, advising that looking forward is the only way to succeed.\u00a0 Giving your \u201cfollowers\u201d \u2013 whether they\u2019re colleagues, family members or customers \u2013 superior tools, products and support is the way to win in a difficult economic climate.<\/p>\n<p>The keynote was sponsored by DYR (<em>asi\/48051<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"style10\"><span class=\"style1\"><span class=\"style12\"><span class=\"style14\"><em>The ASI Show<\/em> Orlando opened Sunday with strong Education Day attendance of nearly 1,200 \u2013 down slightly from last year\u2019s record, but up 10% from 2008.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"style15\">Located in a leading trade show city, <em>The<\/em>\u00a0<em>ASI Show<\/em> Orlando provided an interactive event that allowed thousands of distributors to find the newest products, catalogs and pricing for the start of the sales season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style15\"><em>The ASI Show<\/em> Orlando was held at the Orange County Convention Center Sunday, January 3, through Tuesday, January 5.\u00a0 The industry\u2019s largest event on the East Coast, the show featured hundreds of leading suppliers, including nearly 150 new to Orlando, and more than 60 education sessions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style15\">\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to kick off a brand new show season \u2013 and a new year \u2013 with such a successful show at what we all hope is a turning point in our industry,\u201d said Timothy M. Andrews, president of <em>The ASI Show<\/em> and president and chief executive officer of ASI.\u00a0 \u201cWhile total attendance was off slightly from last year\u2019s robust turnout, everyone is thrilled with this year\u2019s event, and I believe ASI Orlando has positioned suppliers and distributors for a great recovery year in 2010.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"style15\">Monday night, more than 700 people attended a networking \u201cGala Celebration\u201d at the industry\u2019s biggest party at Universal Studios, sponsored by SnugZ\/USA (<em>asi\/88060<\/em>). \u00a0ASI also showcased the latest in casual wear at its 2010 Fashion Show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style15\">Suppliers enjoyed steady traffic, numerous networking opportunities and exposure to quality distributors during the two exhibition days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style15\">\u201cThis year has been excellent,\u201d said Margit Fawbush, marketing manager of Norwood Promotional Products.\u00a0 \u201cThe traffic is steady. \u00a0Distributors are eager to start new projects and are coming in with very specific requests as to what they are looking for. \u00a0We have found ASI Orlando very beneficial.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"style15\">Scott Anderson, national sales manager of Leed\u2019s (<em>asi\/66887<\/em>), added, \u201cAll the metrics that we consider important for a show are being hit and traffic\u2019s been good. \u00a0We\u2019re very pleased with <em>The ASI Show<\/em> Orlando.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"style15\">Distributors say ASI started off a new show season with a bang.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style15\">\u201cASI Orlando is a great way to kick off the New Year,\u201d said Gary Tuchler, vice president for the south region for Brown &amp;
