Andrews was inducted into the Ball State University Journalism Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n<p>Andrews was awarded the honor from the Department of Journalism and the Journalism Alumni Association to recognize his career growth and achievements in philanthropy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongratulations to Mr. Andrews,\u201d said David Knott, associate professor emeritus of journalism at Ball State University.\u00a0 \u201cI knew Tim when he was a student at Ball State.\u00a0 I\u2019ve followed his career, and I\u2019m proud of his achievements in journalism, in business and in community service.\u00a0 Tim was one of our brightest stars of Ball State journalism.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A Journalism Hall of Fame nominee must have either majored or minored in the Department of Journalism at Ball State University, worked for student publications, or taught in the Department of Journalism and must have excelled in some phase of journalism.<\/p>\n<p>Andrews\u2019 background in journalism includes posts as an editor and columnist for <em>The<\/em>\u00a0<em>Ball State Daily News<\/em> and also as a journalist for nine of his 17 years at Dow Jones\u00a0&amp; Co., publisher of <em>The<\/em>\u00a0<em>Wall Street Journal.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In addition, he was the chief executive officer of Primedia Business Magazines for three years, where he served as\u00a0the catalyst for the redesign of 25 magazines and the launch of\u00a085 e-newsletters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For the past four years, Andrews has been the president of the Advertising Specialty Institute, where he has invested substantially in the editorial\u00a0team &#8211; adding senior editorial staff members who have redesigned the company\u2019s six magazines and have launched a seventh \u2013 serving more than\u00a0325,000 readers in the promotional products industry.<\/p>\n<p>Andrews was presented with the Ball State Department of Journalism\u2019s first Outstanding Young Alumnus Award in 1990 and he has also received the department\u2019s Outstanding Alumnus Award.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very excited and honored to receive this award,\u201d said Andrews.\u00a0 \u201cI think that this recognition is the result of the hard work of many friends and colleagues and I would like to thank Ball State University and the journalism mentors that I\u2019ve been proud to call my role models.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are also many associates in the advertising specialty and publishing industries to thank who have shown me the importance of becoming a leader in philanthropy,\u201d Andrews continued.\u00a0 \u201cI believe that even if you\u2019re doing well in business, improving the lives of people who need help is an important part of doing good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andrews holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in economics and journalism from Ball State University.<\/p>\n<p>He serves as a local board member of the American Red Cross, where he was named a Circle of Humanitarians award winner to recognize his achievements in philanthropy.\u00a0 He is also a member of the Benefactor\u2019s Circle of the Clara Barton Society \u2013 a select group of donors who share the commitment and vision of Clara Barton, founder of the National Red Cross.<\/p>\n<p>Andrews most recently was elected a director of The Johnnetta B. Cole Global Diversity &amp; Inclusion Institute at Bennett College for Women, in Greensboro, N.C.\u00a0 The school is named in honor of Dr. Johnnetta Cole, the retiring president of Bennett College and former president of Spelman College.\u00a0 Bennett and Spelman are the only two colleges in the United States that historically serve African-American women.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In addition to serving on boards of charitable organizations, he established a food bank endowment fund and is a founding contributor to the Hawcreek-Flat Rock Endowment Fund &#8211; both serving his hometown of Hope, Indiana.\u00a0 To-date, residents have raised more than $300,000 for the food bank, scholarships and special projects.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>To contact Timothy M.
