Honored with \u201cPulitzer Prize\u201d of the business press in three categories;\u00a0 Finalist for seven additional awards<\/em><\/p>\n

TREVOSE, PA \u2013 April 20, 2015 \u2013 <\/strong>Stories featuring an embroidery coach working to improve a Wisconsin business and an exploration of wearable technology as the next frontier of apparel and electronics propelled magazines published by the Advertising Specialty Institute\u00ae<\/sup> (ASI) to a record three Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards.<\/p>\n

ASI\u2019s Stitches<\/em>\u00ae<\/sup> magazine was honored with two awards and Wearables<\/em>\u00ae<\/sup> earned one. In addition, Stitches<\/em>, Counselor<\/em>\u00ae<\/sup> and Advantages<\/em>\u00ae<\/sup> magazines were named finalists for seven more Neal awards.<\/p>\n

Considered \u201cthe Pulitzer Prize of business media,\u201d the Neal Awards recognize the best in business-to-business editorial achievement and are B-to-B\u2019s most prestigious and sought-after editorial honors. ABM, the association of business information and media companies, honored Stitches<\/em>, Wearables <\/em>and other winning magazines during its 61st Annual Neal Awards ceremony in New York City.<\/p>\n

Winning entries were selected for exhibiting journalistic enterprise, service to the field and editorial craftsmanship. The annual contest attracts nationally recognized publications such as Architectural Record<\/em> and Advertising Age<\/em>. In less than 10 years, ASI magazines have been honored with over 140 journalism awards and remain the only industry publications to ever win a Neal Award.<\/p>\n

Stitches <\/em>senior writer Theresa Hegel won Neal awards in the categories of \u201cBest Cross-Platform Package\u201d for the cover story \u201cCan This Shop Be Saved?\u201d The magazine sent Joyce Jagger, the \u201cEmbroidery Coach,\u201d to Wisconsin for two days to help revamp a troubled embroidery shop. Judges said: \u201cUse of the multiplatform elements helped humanize this story and make its points more salient to the audience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hegel, an award-winning journalist from Emmaus, PA, was also honored for \u201cBest Range of Work by a Single Author.\u201d Her work was singled out by judges for \u201ccovering the field broadly with good multi-media content.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stitches<\/em>, edited by Nicole Rollender, is the go-to resource for the embroidery and decorating marketplace. In 2013, Stitches <\/em>won a Neal for \u201cBest Single Issue\u201d for its annual State of the Industry.<\/p>\n

C.J. Mittica, editor of Wearables<\/em> magazine, won in the category of \u201cBest Subject-Related Package\u201d for his story, \u201cThe T-shirt That Thinks.\u201d The cover story package put a spotlight on the immense potential wearable technology has to not only change branding, but the fundamental way we live our lives. Judges said, \u201cEveryone is writing about wearables this year, but given that this is their core market, Wearables<\/em> had to do it \u2013 <\/strong>and did it well.\u201d Mittica, of Lafayette Hill, PA, has been a finalist for three previous Neal awards.<\/p>\n

ASI editorial staff members Hegel, Joe Haley, Sara Lavenduski, Rachel Abraham, Glen Karpowich and Melinda Ligos contributed to the winning package.<\/p>\n

Wearables <\/em>is the promotional products industry\u2019s number-one source for commercial apparel business owners and screen printers.<\/p>\n
